Ailing Blister
This composite sketch of Renee’s ailing blister was done on the train ride from Luoyang to Xi’an. Imagine the patch of squiggles on the bridge of her foot as white bubbly skin with red around it…Poor Renee had a blister from her shoes that got infected probably when we were playing around water like in Bei Hai or maybe in Li Luo (the water there was really dirty, even where we were fishing!)

Renee and Her Doctor Friends!
Renee and her poor yellow foot go to the hospital in Xi’an with one of the Xianese students (in the pink) to get it inspected. The ailed foot is in the bottom left of the picture…and if you think that’s gross, try sleeping in the same room with it!! Ha, ha ha…but seriously, the yellow tint comes from the powder she had to add to warm water for soaking her foot in.
Renee was such a trooper through the whole time, sometimes having to demand that she should be able to go along, too, only to be left in the hotel to recuperate…you should have seen how happy she was to finally get out and about!
